One of the joys of life is having a totally filled operations hard drive.  I can no longer receive or send e- mail until I can replace it with a (much) bigger one - probably in August (God willing and the river don't rise...) In the meantime, I'll have to commiserate with you over Cubbies/Rangers, Knicks/Spurs and Stars/Sabres via OT messages here.  I hope no one will _object_ too strenuously as long as I continue to take part in the On Topic stuff and provide the occasional bit of new stuff my own bad self. I trust you witnessed the Stars' heroic efforts this evening?  A magnificent defensive struggle and the first game of the series to near a level of boring. There weren't the sustained bursts of offensive effort that marked the previous games (although both Stars' goals were things of rare and exquisite beauty.) On the other hand, the defensive chess match played by Ken Hitchcock and Lindy Ruff was not without a certain fascination.  (As a former goalie, I find myself drawn to defensive dramas.  I can't help myself.) Hasek may not have died, but he sure seemed mortal tonight. And how about the Prevent-Latrell-Sprewell-From-Winning-A- Championship Brigade? The Spurs seem to match up better against the Knicks than any other team to this point.  And when the K's focus on Duncan, I expect Robinson or Jackson (or someone else) will lay hands upon the scalpel. Go, Stars, Go! Die, Sprewell, Die! Thanks. But what about Gentleman Joe's second scrap in three games and Modo the Mighty with his Assists of Death? I see the Rangers are #1.  When is the All-Star Break? Wouldn't Jarod make a great minor-league ballp_layer_? I need you to correct me if I am wrong, but this is my take on the winning goal by Bret Hull: Hull was not in the crease at the time he received the puck from a p_layer_ of the opposing team (not a pass from a colleague

Hey, Pat!  How 'bout them Stars, eh? According to the video official (who appeared on the Mother Corp - Ye Olde Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Hull's goal stands because he was the one who had possesion for the first (legal because he as not in the crease) shot and recovered his own rebound.  Hasek did not not have control of the puck at any point. As a result, when Hull brought the rebound from his foot to his skate, it didn't mean he had to leave the crease again since you can follow the puck into the crease on your pwn possession - and he had never, technically, given up possession. Confused? You won't be after next week's episode of SOAP... By the by, I've been having mucho problemo getting RemarQ to accept my messages (They claim that they're having trouble setting my cookie (I think my hard drive has lost its cookies, but that's another story.) I'm not sure if/when I'll be able to post again.  (A computer geek, uh..genius I know will be back in town in ten to twelve days and may be able to rearrange stuff on my operations and storage hard drives to enable me access on a regular basis again. Until then (or a miracle happens and RemarQ's software shows more tolerance of us cookie-impaired) Stars Rule! Sabres Drool! And Go, Spurs, Go!  Shut down the would-be murderer and his more-or-less crime-free cohorts. Or: Go Knicks Go, Go Knicks Go, Across the Floor And out the door! Go Knicks Go!
